Attractions

Universal Orlando Resort

A new ride, Fast & Furious - Supercharged, raced to Universal Studios in May. The attraction takes guests on a high-octane adventure into the world of underground racing, right alongside stars from the Fast & Furious films. Guests can expect non-stop action and high-speed excitement on this supercharged thrill ride inside specially designed vehicles.

A new nighttime show is coming to Universal Studios Florida, replacing Universal's Cinematic Spectacular-100 Years of Movie Memories. This new lagoon show will feature animated characters, a new storyline, lighting and special effects.

 

Walt Disney World Resort

Disney's Hollywood Studios will open the colorful world of Toy Story Land in summer 2018 which will feature two new themed attractions, "Slinky Dog Dash" and "Alien Swirling Saucers," and Woody's Lunch Box, a walk-up counter service eatery set to open in summer 2018, which is to figuratively shrink guests down to the size of Andy's toys.

Disney's Animal Kingdom debuted "Up! A Great Bird Adventure" in April 2018. The new show is based on the Disney-Pixar movie "Up" and features the characters Russell and Dug introducing birds from around the world up-close for guests. The show replaced Flights of Wonder, which closed at the end of last year. 

 

SeaWorld Orlando

Infinity Falls, a new ride coming to SeaWorld Orlando, is set to debut summer 2018. Thrilling rapids will roar through the brand new rainforest river experience, while adventure-seeking guests plunge down the world's tallest river rapid drop. Infinity Falls will be the centerpiece of a newly themed surrounding area, fully immersing guests in a rainforest canopy.

Aquatica Orlando debuted a new family raft slide in May 2018. Ray Rush takes guests on three exciting thrills as they slide, splash and soar like never before.

 

LEGOLAND Florida

LEGO® NINJAGO® - Master of the 4th Dimension will start Jan. 12, 2018, at the LEGO® Showplace Theater. The short film combines dazzling 3D computer animation with 4D real-world effects offering guests the chance to go on an amazing new adventure with their favorite ninjas: Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, Nya and Master Wu.

The Great LEGO Race thrill ride experience, which opened March 23, is the first VR roller coaster experience designed for kids, and features Lego minifigures, a rocket-powered surfboard and an espresso-fueled scooter. The attraction replaced the Project X roller coaster.

 

New Orlando Attractions

Orlando Watersports Complex debuted Central Florida's first Aquapark, which features a modular series of inflatable, interlocking climbing obstacles, pathways and slides for hours of watery fun. This water park also offers wakeboarding, wakeskating, wakesurfing, kneeboarding and waterskiing for children and adults.

Nona Adventure Park, a new water-sports park featuring an inflatable, floating obstacle course and wakeboarders pulled along by cable, is scheduled to open summer 2018 in Lake Nona. Visitors will be able to buy passes for the whole park or for individual attractions.

Drive Shack, a unique entertainment destination pairing the most advanced golf games and technology with outstanding food and drinks, debuted its 60,000-square-foot flagship location in Lake Nona's vibrant Sports and Performance District in spring 2018. The three-story, indoor/outdoor all-weather golf-entertainment complex features 90 hitting bays, a Free Play Game Lounge with classic games like shuffleboard, skeeball and Pac-Man, a full-service restaurant and bar, an outdoor lounge and three fully equipped meeting and event rooms.

Madame Tussauds Orlando's "Justice League: A Call for Heroes" will allow guests to jump in on the action as a loyal sidekick to Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill's Supermanand Ben Affleck's Batman starting May 25. Replica props and costumes related to each superhero character's wax figure will provide an added dimension of authenticity and realism to the immersive experience. 

Orlando StarFlyer - a spinning swing standing over 400 feet tall, seating 24 riders in 12 double seats, spinning at 40-60 miles an hour -- is set to open along International Drive at the ICON Orlando 360 complex on June 1.

Hotels and Resorts

The Delaney Hotelwill be a 54-room boutique hotel in the Sodo district of downtown Orlando,expected to be open in May 2018. It will offer unique high-tech conveniencesfor guests, from remote check-in, to digital tablet-based concierge services inevery room, smart phone room keys and smart TVs.

Universal's Aventura Hotel,Universal Orlando Resort's sixth addition to its lineup of on-site hotels, isexpected to open August 2018. A value property, the 16-story gleaming glasstower will consist of 600 guest rooms, including 13 kids' suites. It will bringthe total number of on-site hotel rooms at Universal Orlando to 6,200.TheAventura Hotel will feature the first-ever rooftop bar and grill on Universalproperty, and offer exclusive amenities including Early Park Admission toUniversal's theme parks, complimentary on-site transportation and more.

MargaritavilleResort Orlando was announced as a new resort property beingdeveloped by Encore Capital Management, and is expected to open in 2018. Thewaterfront destination resort will feature 175 rooms, 1,000Margaritaville-themed vacation homes and 300 timeshare units. A new dining andentertainment district is also planned to accommodate guests, along with a12-acre water park, a wellness center, miles of fitness trails and adestination water taxi system.

Disney's CoronadoSprings Resort, the largest of thesix convention hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, is expanding over the nextyear, adding new dining options, resort rooms and outdoor networking spaces. Aspart of that expansion, construction is underway on a new 15-story tower thatwill bring an additional 500 rooms to the resort, including suites andconcierge level services. A new rooftop restaurant and lounge atop the towerwill offer panoramic views of nighttime fireworks from nearby Disney themeparks. The expansion will also include new meeting venues, adding a board roomand two multi-purpose rooms to the resort's current 220,000 square feet ofdedicated meeting and function space.

The Grove Resort & Spa - Just five minutes from Walt Disney World Resort, TheGrove Resort & Spa is a new vacation resort that opened its first phaseMarch 2017 with 184 rooms. After its completion, the hotel will offer 878 two-and three-bedroom residential-style suites with full kitchens, washers anddryers and multiple bathrooms to provide all the comforts of home. Additionalamenities include several full-service restaurants, bars, a grab-and-gomarketplace and family-friendly water park. The full project will be completedover the course of three years.    

 

Dining & Nightlife

DisneySprings added three new Italian restaurant and bar concepts tothe landscape. Maria & Enzo's,an Italian trattoria, offers family-friendly dishes and handmade pastas. Enzo's Hideaway is a speakeasy inspiredby Roman aperitivo bars. Prohibition-era cocktails are served along withdishes. Rounding off the trio is PizzaPonte, a fast-casual concept centered around pastries, pizza, Italiansandwiches and espresso. The restaurants form a dining complex next to TheEdison.

VoodooDoughnut began offering sweet delicious treats - 51 varieties, tobe exact - at Universal CityWalk in March. The place has eclectic décorinvolving bright murals, a spiral staircases, skeletons, stained glass, zigzagpattern on the floor and a high ceiling.

DistrictGastro Bar and Social Eating House, an American-stylegastropub, is set to open in Parramore in spring 2018. A complete renovation ofthe 6,055-square-foot building on Church Street will begin this November. Therestaurant will be the first upscale dining establishment in the area and willserve as a gathering place for people headed to the Amway Center or the OrlandoCity Stadium.

Jaleo, aconcept by world-renowned Chef Jose Andres, will bring the spirit and flavorsof Spain to Disney Springs, with an extensive menu of tapas that reflect theregional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, expected toopen summer 2018.

A new Wolfgang Puck concept will open in the TownCenter at Disney Springs. Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grillwill capture the essence of laid-back California dining, highlighting the bestof Puck's signature dishes with Mediterranean influences, and opening in summer2018.

JINYA Ramen Bar, a modern Japanese restaurant that will feature authenticramen along with a variety of tapas dishes, is expected to open in 2018 in theThornton Park neighborhood of downtown Orlando.

WineBar George, theonly Master Sommelier-led wine bar in Florida, opened May 19, bringing MasterSommelier George Miliotes' renowned wine expertise to Orlando. The design forthe 6,000 square-foot space, with seating for 210, is reminiscent of awinemaker's home estate featuring oak wood, warm lighting and a welcoming,comfortable atmosphere.

Attractions

Universal Orlando Resort

A brand new partnership with Nintendo will bring the characters, action and adventure of video games to life within Universal theme parks at Super Nintendo World. At an unspecified future date, Nintendo-themed areas will offer new immersive and interactive experiences in highly themed and authentic environments filled with multiple attractions, shops and restaurants. Guests will feel as if they are playing inside their favorite games - this time in real life. 

An all-new thrill ride is coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade at Universal's Islands of Adventure in 2019. It is expected to be one of the most highly-themed coaster experiences that Universal Orlando has ever created. The new attraction will replace the "Dragon Challenge" double coaster.

An all-new live action experience based on a high-energy Universal franchise will replace Terminator 2: 3-D at Universal Studios. The new attraction is set to open in 2019.

 

Walt Disney World Resort

Disney's Hollywood Studios announced:

  • Its first-ever Mickey-themed ride-through attraction, "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway," that takes guests on a journey inside the world of Disney Channel's Emmy Award-winning "Mickey Mouse" cartoon shorts using new technologies that transform the flat cartoon world into an incredible dimensional experience. The new attraction will replace "The Great Movie Ride." Opening date TBD.
  • Star Wars-themed land, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, is set to open in 2019. The land will feature two new attractions and include opportunities to meet and greet popular Star Wars characters, including BB-8, Chewbacca, Rey and Kylo Ren.
  • Magic Kingdom Park will bring a new Tron-themed attraction to a new area near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. The attraction is scheduled to open for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary in 2021. Magic Kingdom will also be getting a new venue for world-class entertainment on Main Street, U.S.A. that will be modeled after the Willis Wood Theater in 1920s Kansas City.

    Epcot announced that "Ratatouille," the No. 1 family attraction at Disneyland Paris, will be added in an all-new space in the France pavilion at World Showcase. Epcot will also see the addition of a brand new E-ticket attraction based on the world of "Guardians of the Galaxy." In Future World, a new Green Mission at "Mission: SPACE" will take guests on a stunning tour around the Earth, and an updated Orange Mission will make the trip to Mars even more spectacular

    Walt Disney World released a first look at The NBA Experience, opening in Disney Springs in summer 2019. The state-of-the-art space will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store and an adjacent restaurant.

     

    SeaWorld Orlando

    A new Sesame Street themed land is scheduled to open by fall 2022. Plans for the new land will have a parade, rides, show and place where guests can see and meet the Sesame Street characters.

     

    Around Orlando

    SKYPLEX, a new entertainment complex coming to I-Drive, is set to break world records by bringing the world's tallest roller coaster to Orlando in 2019. The 570-foot-tall (174-meter) structure will be the tallest in Central Florida, and feature the first Polercoaster, a vertical ride dubbed the Skyscraper, weaving in and around the whole tower on coaster-length tracks. The SKYPLEX tower will also offer views of the city via an observation deck, restaurant and lounge at the top. Additionally, a second ride, called Skyfall, will be will be the world's tallest drop ride once it opens, rising up to 460 feet (140.2 meters) and then dropping riders at 65 miles (144.8 km) an hour.

    Orlando Motorsports Park is set to build near Walt Disney World and across the upcoming Margaritaville Resort. The complex will include three courses - one for carts, a "fun" driving course for the general public, and a longer private club course for members and professionals. Commercial retail is planned along U.S. 192, with stores focused on automobile accessories, clothing and collectibles, food and beverage, a possible museum and driving instruction.

     

    Hotels & Resorts 

    Disney Riviera Resort,the 15th Disney Vacation Club property, is expected to open fall 2019 in theEpcot resort area.

    Walt Disney Worldunveiled plans for an immersive Star Wars-themed hotel that will debut as partof the new Disney 360 vacation concept that gives each guest a storyline uponarrival. Dedicated entirely to the galaxy of Star Wars, it will be aone-of-a-kind experience where luxury meets multi-day adventures in a galaxyfar, far away.

    JWMarriott will begin building a new hotel in Bonnet Creek, aresort development surrounded by the Walt Disney World Resort. The new hotel isexpected to celebrate its grand opening in the first quarter of 2020.

    UniversalOrlando Resort announced a dual-hotel project off ofInternational Drive, set to open in 2019. The hotel project will be among thetheme park company's most affordable. The hotels, which will have a total of2,800 rooms on 64 acres of former Wet 'n Wild land, will be split by UniversalBoulevard with one 2,050-room resort on one side and another 750-room resortacross the way. The hotels will begin taking reservations in early 2018.

    Lake Nona Resort, a new eight-story hotel property focusing on fitness and wellness, will offer services like access to an on-site nutritionist, 24-hour fitness facility, spa, trails and a 120,000-square-foot beach volleyball venue. The resort will allow the community to host more athletes and sport enthusiast visitors in an environment that's attentive to their needs. Lake Nona Resort will have 250 guest rooms and 80 condos, and is expected to open in 2020.


    Transportation

    Disney Skyliner, a new transportation system at Walt Disney World,will give guests a birds-eye view of the property as they ride on gondolasfeaturing retro-inspired designs and favorite Disney characters on theexterior. The system will connect Epcot and Disney's HollywoodStudios to four resorts - Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's PopCentury Resort and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, as well as the proposed 15th DisneyVacation Club property, Disney Riviera Resort. Opening date for Disney Skylinerwill be announced at a later time.

    AllAboard Florida is introducing Brightline, anexpress train service for intercity travel in Florida. Brightline will transportpassengers at speeds between 79 and 125 miles per hour, using the existingFlorida East Coast Railway corridor between Miami and Cocoa, along with newtrack between Cocoa and Orlando. Services will begin between Miami and WestPalm Beach in 2017, with service from Miami to Orlando to follow. Uponcompletion, travel from Miami to Orlando will only take about three hours.Phase Two of Brightline will include a station at Orlando InternationalAirport, within the future South Terminal.

    Orlando International Airport isbuilding a new, $1.8 billion south airport terminal near the current airport,adjacent to the $1.3 billion train station also under construction. The trainstation and gates 16 to 21 of the south terminal are scheduled to be completedin 2019, and will feature indoor palm trees, interactive video screens and amoving sidewalk through a straight strip, "the boulevard," that spans thedifferent components of the new terminal: ground transportation, ticket hall,concessions, screening and gates.

    Universal Orlando Resort

    Universal's Volcano Bay, a brand new water theme park, opened May 25, 2017. The water park offers innovative, thrilling attractions, peaceful moments of relaxation and an entirely new guest experience, including TapuTapu wearable technology that allows guests to wait in line virtually, and head to the ride only when the device alerts them. A highly themed, completely immersive environment is inspired by postcard-perfect tropical islands. The new park is located within Universal Orlando Resort, just south of the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. 

    Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon, opened April 6, 2017. This new attraction at Universal Studios takes guests on a journey from the deepest subway tunnels to the tallest skyscrapers, with colorful characters, famous landmarks and more from the mind of Jimmy Fallon.

     

    Walt Disney World Resort

    A new Avatar-inspired land, Pandora -The World of AVATAR, opened May 27, 2017. This expansion, the largest in Animal Kingdom's history, features floating mountains, bioluminescent rainforests and a Banshee flying attraction, as well as new after-dark entertainment.

    The Star Wars Guided Tour at Hollywood Studios, a new add-on seven-hour experience, includes two stage shows, "Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away" and "March of the First Order," as well as the nighttime spectacular, themed dining experiences, character meet-and-greets and more. The tour starts at $121.12, plus regular admission into Hollywood Studios.

    Miss Adventure Falls, a new family-style raft attraction, opened at Typhoon Lagoon on March 12, 2017. The ride takes guests on a splashing journey through the fabled Captain Mary Oceaneer's past. With a ride time of two minutes, Miss Adventure Falls is among the lengthiest attractions at both Disney water parks.

    Rivers of Light opened Feb. 17, 2017 at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It is an innovative experience unlike anything ever seen in a Disney park, combining live performances, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery. "Rivers of Light" magically comes to life on the natural stage of Discovery River, delighting guests and truly capping off a full day of adventures at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park.

    Happily Ever After, a new nighttime spectacular combines the magic of Disney storytelling, beloved Disney characters, fireworks and so much more, debuted at Magic Kingdom Park on May 12, 2017. More Disney characters than ever before are featured in the show, including moments from "Moana," "Brave," "Big Hero 6," "Zootopia," "The Princess & The Frog," "Aladdin" and many others.

    Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, hyper-reality experience in Disney Springs is a ground-breaking phenomenon that combines the magic of illusions, advanced technology and virtual reality to create fully immersive social experiences that gives Star Wars fans the opportunity to step beyond reality and into a galaxy far, far away.

    Muppets Courtyard, along with a portion of the former Streets of America at Disney's Hollywood Studios, was re-imagined to become Grand Avenue. The new area was inspired by the revitalization and the vibrant culture of present-day downtown Los Angeles. Guests can see facades for "merchants" appearing in this area for a music shop, loft apartments, a tailor and more, with each window on the street featuring charming displays.

     

    SeaWorld Orlando

    Kraken Unleashed is SeaWorld's first digitally enhanced ride experience. The legendary Kraken roller coaster was transformed into a virtual reality (VR) roller coaster experience and opened June 15, 2017.  Using new technology, this thrill ride takes guests on a deep sea mission alongside sea creatures inspired by extinct and legendary animals of the past, including the mighty Kraken.

    Electric Ocean, a new end-of-day spectacle event, debuted in summer 2017. As the sun goes down, the lights and energy go up, offering guests a different kind of fun after dark. The ocean comes to life with bioluminescent lighting, music and pathway entertainment, immersing guests in a glowing sea of wonder.

    Dolphin Nursery underwent updates in 2017 to become more interactive, giving guests the opportunity to get up close to mother and baby dolphins in all new ways. Large-scale acrylic windows offer up close viewing, and multiple levels give kids a face-to-face perspective with dolphin calves.

    A new show called Dolphin Days debuted on April 1, 2017, immersing guests into the world of the ocean's most playful ambassadors. Audiences learn more about the individual personalities of each Atlantic bottlenose dolphin while witnessing the special bond they share with their trainers. The show replaced the previous Blue Horizons performance at Dolphin Theater.

     

    LEGOLANDFlorida Resort

    LEGO NINJAGO World opened in January 2017. The new immersive land is a training ground for future ninjas, including an interactive ride where guests blast fire, lightning and ice with their hands.

     

    OrlandoAttractions

    Topgolf Entertainment Group, one of the top golfing entertainment complexes in the world, opened a new location in Orlando in fall 2017. The 65,000-square-foot venue includes 230 high-definition flat-screen TVs, 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time, and advanced technology to track the accuracy and distance of players' shots.

    iFly Indoor Skydiving opened in a new facility next to WonderWorks on International Drive in May 2017. The new location is equipped with two all-glass wind tunnels in an open single-story floor plan that allows I-Drive passersby to see tourists in action. The new facility replaced the original further north on I-Drive.

    Andretti Indoor Karting & Games, a brand new $30 million indoor go-kart facility on Universal Boulevard near the convention center, opened in fall 2017. The new facility features electronic go-karting, zip lines, bowling, racing simulators, a ‘sky bar,' rock climbing, laser tag, a full-service restaurant and 7,000 square feet of meeting space.

    Fun Spot America debuted a new wooden coaster, dubbed the Mine Blower. The $6 million new ride is 82 feet tall, and runs nearly 50 mph. The lead car is adorned with large sticks of dynamite, and the train enters darkened tunnels themed as mine shafts. Mine Blower includes a barrel roll inversion, a rare element for a wooden coaster.

    Crayola Experience debuted the new Adventure Lab attraction that includes digital and physical challenges. Each participant is given three tasks to complete, ranging from crossing a melting wax river to finding a color's recipe. The attraction opened in July 2017.

    Revolution Off Road debuted "Myakka - A Beast of a Ride." This family ride takes place in a specially adapted six-wheeled Army truck with 20 seats up top for a bird's eye view of the attraction's massive property, including the crystal blue lakes, treetops and local wildlife.

    Gatorland opened Baby Gator Marsh, a brand new animal exhibit featuring more than 50 baby American alligators all born and raised in the park. Gatorland also opened the brand-new "Gator Joe's Adventure Outpost" and "Stompin' Gator Off-Road Adventure" in fall 2017.  "Stompin' Gator Off-Road Adventure" takes guests into a section of the park that has never been seen, running alongside the swamps that feed the headwaters of the everglades. "Gator Joe's Adventure Outpost" is located in front of the "Stompin' Gator Off-Road Adventure," and serves as the park's home base for reserving and purchasing all separately-ticketed park adventures.

      

    Hotels and Resorts

    Walt Disney World Resort

    Disney's Wilderness Lodge includes new amenities. The accommodations formerly known as "The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge" have assumed a new name - "Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge," and a sweeping re-imagination of the former Hidden Springs Pool area opened in summer 2017.

    Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort was reimagined with new additions to the resort's current marketplace, Centertown, including new waterfront dining and retail shopping areas. This centralized location offers the resort's guests more convenient access to services, amenities and dining.

    Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, the 14th resort for Disney Vacation Club, opened summer 2017. The new property features 184 rustically elegant accommodation options, including Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, three-bedroom grand villas and unique waterfront cabins.

     

    Around Orlando

    LEGOLAND Beach Retreat at LEGOLAND Florida Resort opened on April 7, 2017. The new accommodations include 83 single-story duplexes, a themed pool, sandy play area and new restaurant. Conveniently located adjacent to the theme park, the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat invites guests to relax beneath brightly-colored bungalows or dine below the new LEGO lighthouse, which features a buffet restaurant, pool bar and a beach-themed space for kids.

    LBA Hospitality opened two Orlando hotels that share the SeaWorld brand name near SeaWorld and other Orlando theme parks. TownPlace Suites by Marriott Orlando at SeaWorld and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando at SeaWorld are located at the intersection of International Drive and Central Florida Parkway.

    Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate underwent a $40 million expansion project, which includes 93 new guest rooms, 100,000 square feet dedicated to meeting and event space and a revamped Trevi's restaurant with an outdoor bar and terrace. Orlando's first and only resort wave pool opened in spring 2017.

     

    Dining

    Disney Springs

    The newly-renovated Planet Hollywood Observatory opened in February 2017. Overlooking the heart of Disney Springs, with a newly expanded outdoor terrace and bar, the restaurant is reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century observatory. Dining options range from timeless classics to a new Guy Fieri sandwich menu and a variety of gourmet milkshakes.

    Paddlefish is a newly-opened concept aboard the vessel formerly known as Fulton's Crab House. The refreshed venue comes with a menu to match, featuring an array of composed and contemporary seafood dishes, steaks and more. Guests can look forward to a new rooftop lounge as well.

    The Polite Pig, sister restaurant of The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park, opened April 10. The restaurant features a variety of wood-fired, smoked and grilled items and introduces an innovative beverage program that serves all drinks on tap, including Cask & Larder beer, wine and cocktails.  

    The Edison, a lavish "Industrial Gothic" restaurant and bar, opened New Year's Eve 2017. With a theme that centers around a 1920s-period electric company with live entertainment, classic American food and craft cocktails, the industrial gothic space has impressive 35-foot ceilings and a number of themed areas.

    Terralina Crafted Italian, a new dining experience curated by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tony Mantuano, opened in fall 2017 at Disney Springs. The new restaurant, which replaced the space at The Landing previously occupied by Portobello Country Italian Trattoria, underwent a multi-million dollar makeover inspired by the design and lifestyle of Italy's Lake District. Terralina Crafted Italian's sweeping waterfront views and dining provides guests with a tranquil escape to another part of the world.

     

    Around Orlando

    Luke's Kitchen and Bar is the third restaurant for Chef Brandon McGlamery of Luma on Park and Prato in Winter Park. Now open in Maitland, Luke's offers cocktails and American cuisine, such as oysters, a raw bar, soups and sandwiches, entrees cooked on open fire grill and rotisserie.

    Reel Fish Coastal Kitchen & Bar is a new casual restaurant from Fred Thimm in Winter Park. It is a contemporary version of a fish camp, offering fresh Florida seafood, prepared in southern style, from both coasts.

    Ace Cafe Orlando, the first outpost of the iconic London, England-based motor diner, opened May 19, 2017. The menu, inspired by an American roadside diner, has made-from-scratch comfort food, some British favorites and locally-sourced and green options, all at an affordable price point. Ace Cafe Orlando also has a big backyard area for patio dining, outdoor events and live music.

    Uncle Julio's Fine Mexican joined the dining offerings at I-Drive 360 in summer 2017. The Texas-based restaurant chain sits near the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye, with a patio around the building for a view of the wheel. The Tex-Mex menu items include a range of options, like honey chipotle salmon and cowboy queso.

    Market on Magnolia, an upscale and modern food hall opened in fall 2017. The indoor market showcases independent local food vendors and artisans, and feature three culinary concepts: Da Kine Poke, The Gnarly Barley, and Sauce'd Wood Fired Pizzas, as well as a full bar.

    Wonderland Cookie Dough Co. is central Florida's only scoop shop specifically dedicated to edible cookie dough. Located in Celebration near Walt Disney World, the shop offers a variety of flavors and toppings, in addition to gluten-free, vegan and sugar-free options.

    M Bar, the sister pub to new rooftop bar M Lounge, opened its doors in Ivanhoe Village in summer 2017. More than 60 classic cars line much of the bar's walls. Other touches include a VW Bus-turned wine bar. M Bar also includes half of a Cadillac and vintage arcade games.

    The Glass Knife, a new luxe café and pâtisserie, opened in Winter Park in 2017.  With approachable and repeatable price points, this 1920s-era inspired upscale pastry shop serves decadent cakes, elegant desserts and other sweet treats as well as a savory breakfast and lunch items, plus a variety of evening treats.

    OrlandoCity Stadium, home to the Orlando City Lions soccer team, is now open in downtown Orlando. The stadium seats25,500 and is located in a developing entertainment center a block away fromthe Amway Center.

    USTA National Campusopened a campus in the Lake Nona area of Orlando in January 2017.

    The63-acre (25.5-hectare) complex encompasses more than 100 courts (hard and clay)and a multi-use building with a pro shop, fitness center, locker rooms, cafeteriaand players' lounge.
